BUILD THE PAYMENT SCHEDULESplit the total without changing the project price.

The progress payment is optional. Set it to 0 for a simple deposit and final-balance schedule.

ONE TOTAL. CLEAR MILESTONES.

Make every amount add back to the job price.

On a $2,400 project, a 25% deposit is $600. A second 25% progress payment is another $600, leaving a $1,200 final balance.

Payment amount = Project total × Payment percentage

The calculator keeps the combined schedule at 100% or less so the amounts never exceed the project total.

BEFORE YOU SEND IT

Connect each payment to a clear event.

The math is useful only when the customer can understand when each amount is due.

01

State the amount, approval step, and what the deposit allows your business to begin.

03

Progress payment

If used, connect it to a specific milestone the customer can recognize.

04

Final balance

Name the completion event or due date instead of leaving the timing implied.

FROM SCHEDULE TO ESTIMATE

Put the deposit on a clear customer document.

The free builder calculates the deposit and creates the PDF. The optional $29 one-time Pro upgrade adds reusable payment instructions, your logo, your color, and footer removal.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Clear arithmetic, careful terms.

How is the deposit calculated?

Multiply the project total by the deposit percentage. A 25% deposit on a $2,400 project is $600. The calculator also subtracts any progress payment to show the final balance.

How much deposit should a contractor request?

There is no universal amount. The right terms depend on the work, material commitments, timing, customer agreement, and rules that apply where you operate. This calculator lets you test the arithmetic without recommending a percentage.

What is a progress payment?

A progress payment is an amount due at a defined project milestone before final completion. If you do not use progress payments, set that field to 0 and the calculator will show only the deposit and final balance.

Does the quote builder collect the deposit?

No. Northmethod Quotes calculates and displays the deposit on an estimate or quote PDF. You collect payment using the method and process your business already supports.

Are these payment terms legal advice?

No. The calculator performs arithmetic only. Review your deposit, cancellation, milestone, and final-payment terms for the job and location, and obtain qualified advice when needed.

Does Northmethod save my calculator numbers?

No. The calculator runs in your browser. Northmethod does not receive the project total or percentages you enter.
