How do I calculate a commercial cleaning bid?+
Estimate monthly labor hours from crew size, time per visit, and service frequency. Multiply hours by the real wage cost, add payroll burden, supplies, travel, and allocated overhead, then divide by the share of revenue left after your fee allowance and target gross margin.
Why does the calculator use 4.33 weeks per month?+
A year has 52 weeks. Dividing 52 by 12 gives about 4.33 weeks per month, which captures the annual visit count more accurately than multiplying weekly visits by four.
Should I price commercial cleaning by the square foot?+
Square-foot pricing can be a useful comparison, but the actual production time depends on scope, layout, traffic, soil level, access, frequency, and required tasks. This calculator builds the price from your crew time and costs, then shows price per square foot only as an optional check.
What belongs in payroll burden?+
Use the employer costs you actually carry beyond wages, such as payroll taxes, workers' compensation, paid time, benefits, or other labor-related costs. If you already use a fully burdened hourly labor cost, set the separate burden percentage to zero.
Does Northmethod store my bid numbers?+
No. The calculator runs in your browser. Northmethod does not receive the costs, margin, facility size, or price you enter.
