How does the material waste allowance work?+
The calculator multiplies the required quantity by the selected waste percentage, then adds that amount to the planned order quantity. Use a percentage appropriate for the material, layout, cuts, damage risk, and supplier guidance.
Does the calculator round to full boxes or pieces?+
No. It shows the calculated quantity without assuming a package size. Round the result according to how the supplier sells the material, then verify the final purchase quantity.
Is the total material cost the price I should charge?+
No. It is an input cost based on the values entered. The primary handoff carries it into the markup-versus-margin calculator so labor, overhead, profit, risk, scope, and other job costs can be reviewed before choosing a customer price.
Why is tax applied before delivery?+
The calculator applies the entered tax percentage to the material subtotal and then adds delivery as a fixed cost. Tax rules vary, so confirm which purchases and charges are taxable for the actual job.
Where are my material numbers stored?+
The calculation runs in your browser. Northmethod does not receive the quantities, costs, waste, tax, or delivery values entered.
